READ READ READ!!!
"There is space on everyone's bookshelves for books you have outgrown but can't give away. They hold your youth between their pages, like flowers pressed on half-forgotten Summer's day." -Author Unknown
I want to be consistent in regards to classroom procedures. I always want to have the daily objectives on the board so that the students can copy it in their notebooks when they walk in. Students will partake in "Drop Everything and Read" for ten minutes daily and on some days I plan to have a writing assignment so that students can be engaged in working on their writing while I take attendance. I will use notebooks so that students can complete all assignments in one notebook as well as take class notes and staple in handouts. The purpose of the notebooks is to keep students organized and all of their assignments in one place. They also allow for the students to reflect on their growth as they progress through the school year. I will go around and grade assignments in the notebooks on the day it is due. Every two -three weeks I will collect the notebooks to grade. Students who did not have an assignment completed on its due date can still receive partial credit if completed when notebooks are collected for a grade. Parents and students can keep track of their grades and missing assignment using the parent portal at episd.org.
