About Us

Welcome to Judge Albert Armendariz Middle School (JAMS)!

All students will benefit from the highest quality of academic, athletic, and extracurricular programs. The students, faculty, and staff are dedicated to individual and community success.

JAMS is named in honor of Judge Albert Armendariz, Sr., who was born and raised in El Paso.  He served in the Army during World War II and that helped instill in him a new sense of value and public service. He came back to become a prominent civil rights attorney.

In  El Paso in the late 1950s and early '60s, Armendariz served on the El Paso Civil Service Commission and is credited with helping to open the city's police and fire departments to Mexican Americans. As National President of LULAC, Judge Armendariz helped change the landscape for Latinos in Texas and nationwide.

Our school is privileged to honor the memory of an El  Pasoan who represented our country and our community.

We are proud Armendariz Lions.
